Osher Lifelong Learning Institute to host sock hop Nov. 28

Dancers of all ages are invited to cut a rug at a 1950s-style sock hop from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Old Brick, located at 26 E. Market St. in Iowa City.

The event, hosted by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at the University of Iowa Center on Aging, will feature waltz, cha-cha, swing, pop and meréngue dance numbers performed by the Pegasus Jazz Project.

The Nov. 28 event is open to the public, and dancers are welcome to dress in 1950s-era attire. A basic ballroom dance lesson will begin at 6:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

Admission is $7, payable by cash or check at the door. Admission for OLLI members is $5. To R.S.V.P., contact Linsey Abbott at 319-384-4221.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the UI is a program of the Center on Aging and is affiliated with the national network of Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes, designated and funded by the Bernard Osher Foundation of San Francisco.
