UI Utilities Project Closes Portion Of Madison Street

Construction on the University of Iowa campus will close Madison Street from north of Burlington Street to south of the Main Library beginning June 4 until the completion of the project in early September.

The Southeast Utilities Project is necessary to extend the existing east campus utilities to support the future Campus Recreation and Wellness Center and provide pipe capacity to the area of campus south of Burlington Street. The utilities include chilled water, domestic water, steam, and condensate. Bus routes and pedestrian walkways have been rerouted for the duration of the project.
