Visiting Metal Artist Minato Nakamura Will Give Lecture At UI Oct. 25

Metal artist Minato Nakamura will present a free public lecture as a guest of the jewelry and metal arts area of the University of Iowa School of Art and Art History, at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, in Room 112 of Art Building West -- the new art building -- on the University of Iowa campus.

Nakamura, a jeweler and sculptor, graduated from Musashino Art University in Japan. She teaches and manages her own studio in Tokyo. She has been featured in many shows, including Contemporary Jewelry, Platina in Stockholm; Ausstellung Nippon in Berlin; Contemporary Japanese Jewelry in London; and the Triennial European du Bijou in Paris; and she was awarded the Silver Prize at the 19th International Jewelry Exhibition in Yugoslavia. Her pieces have been acquired by the Tokyo National Museum of Modern Art and the Kyoto National Museum of Modern Art.
