Johnston Resident To Receive First Jason Chen Scholarship
Brian Underwood, an incoming first year student from Johnston, Iowa, has been awarded the first $500 Jason Chen Faith and Learning Scholarship by Geneva Campus Ministry.
The scholarship honors Rev. Jason Chen, who founded Geneva Campus Ministry in 1971 and led the organization until his retirement in 2005. The scholarship was established to award students who demonstrate lives of faith and learning, two key components of Chen's ministry. The scholarship will be awarded to one incoming UI student annually and is renewable for up to three additional years.
Underwood will enroll this fall in the UI's Tippie College of Business. "Brian is an outstanding student, a proven leader, a compassionate individual and a person of strong Christian faith," said Rev. Ed Laarman, director of Geneva Campus Ministry.
