Avian Influenza Is Subject Of Free Talk May 11
"Avian Influenza: What's The Big Deal?" is the title of a free, public talk to be delivered from 5-6 p.m. Thursday, May 11 at the Cottage Bakery and Café, 14 S. Linn St.
Hosted by the Café Scientifique of Iowa City, the talk will be given by Tara Smith, assistant professor of epidemiology in the University of Iowa College of Public Health. Smith is also deputy director of the UI Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases. Her research involves the cross-species nature of many pathogens.
The Café Scientifique of Iowa City is a public forum for exploring and debating the latest ideas in science, mathematics, medicine and technology. The group includes scientists committed to promoting public engagement with science and making science accountable.
