Banquet To Recognize Graduating Students Of Color
The University of Iowa's 16th annual Multicultural Graduation and Recognition Banquet held in honor of graduating minority students will begin at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, May 11, in the second-floor ballroom of the Iowa Memorial Union.
The banquet is free for graduating UI students and their families and guests. The cost for faculty, staff and the public is $15.
Registration deadline is Monday, May 8. To register, contact Carlos Serrato or Maria Newton in the Office of Student Life at 319-335-3059.
Established in 1990 by the men's athletics department, the Graduate College and Support Services Programs, the banquet honors students of color in each of the university's colleges who have excelled academically.
Each college will confer a Dean's Achievement Award to a selected student, as well as Student Leadership Awards given by departments to students who have demonstrated leadership outside the classroom.
An award also will be presented to an outstanding faculty or staff member who has exemplified achievement in cultural diversity.
