Poetry Reading To Benefit Pakistan Earthquake Victims
A poetry reading and musical performance to benefit victims of the South Asia earthquake will be held Saturday, April 1, at 4 p.m. in Jones Common in the North Lindquist Center.
All donations collected at the benefit will be donated to UNICEF USA's South Asia Earthquake Relief Fund. A donation of $7 is suggested. The poetry is devotional Sufi writing read by John Reitz, a UI law professor. He will be accompanied by Turkish folk music played by Bahri Karacay, a Turkish musician and UI researcher.
The event is co-sponsored by the UI Association of Muslims in America, Women's Resource and Action Center (WRAC) and CP Squared.
