Workshop Helps Business Owners Plan Retirement
A University of Iowa business professor will help business owners manage their wealth for retirement in a workshop on Thursday, Aug. 3 at 8:30 a.m. at the Kirkwood Training Services center in Marion.
The cost of the three-hour workshop is $25. To register, contact the Small Business Development Center at the University of Iowa at 319-335-3742, or email firstname.lastname@example.org. The workshop will be in Room 133 of the Kirkwood Training Services center at 3375 Armar Drive in Marion.
The seminar will provide a general framework for understanding how to create and manage wealth during a business owner's career, and outlines such important concepts as asset allocation, risk, liquidity, tax sheltering, costs and outpacing inflation.
The instructor is John H. Spitzer, clinical professor of finance at the Henry B. Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa. Spitzer has worked previously as a senior economist at the Federal Reserve Board, vice president at the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, vice president at Fannie Mae, and vice president at Salomon Brothers. He has no affiliation with any investment product or financial services provider.
The event is sponsored by the University of Iowa Small Business Development Center, Kirkwood Community College Small Business Development Center and Iowa Centers for Enterprise.
