UI Police Seek Information About Reported Assault
Two female visitors to the University of Iowa campus filed a report of an assault with the University of Iowa Police at 11 p.m. Saturday, July 1.
According to the reporting parties, as the pair was sitting on the river bank north of the Hancher foot bridge, a man ran up from behind and attempted to assault the women. The victims yelled and struck the would-be attacker with a handbag and were able to escape to a nearby Blue Cap phone while the attacker fled to the east.
The victims described the alleged perpetrator as a black male, in his late 20s, 5-foot-10-inches tall, wearing a white T-shirt, black shorts and white socks. He was last seen running eastbound from the location of the assault.
The University of Iowa Police is currently investigating this incident and is asking anyone with information pertaining to this investigation to call the department at 319-335-5022.
