DVIP Seeks Donated Bowls For Fundraiser
The Domestic Violence Intervention Program (DVIP) is seeking donated bowls for its ninth annual Souper Bowl fundraiser on Feb. 2 at Quality Inn & Suites Highlander Convention Center.
Artists, students and merchants donate bowls for those attending the Souper Bowl to take home. Area restaurants and grocery stores donate food and beverages for the event. All of the money raised supports DVIP services.
Volunteers have so far collected 200 of the 400 bowls needed for the special dinner. Those wishing to donate bowls can contact Kristie Fortmann-Doser at 351-1042 ext. 112 or send an email to email@example.com.
The Souper Bowl event helps to fight the myth that relationship violence is a one-time or once a year problem that stems from stress related to professional sporting events. More than 300 people attend the Souper Bowl event each year.
DVIP provided support to 905 women, children and men last year, with more than 4,500 services and nearly 14,000 hotline calls. Confidential information and assistance is available 24 hours a day at 319-351-1043 or toll free at 1-800-373-1043.
