Being 'Other' in Iowa Panel Discussion Is Jan. 19
As part of Martin Luther King Jr. Human Rights Week at The University of Iowa, the Women's Resource and Action Center's (WRAC) and the Johnson County Newcomers Resource Network will present a panel discussion entitled "Being 'Other' in Iowa" on Thursday, Jan. 19, at 7:00 p.m. in the Indiana Room of the Iowa Memorial Union. The event is free and open to the public.
The panel will feature the stories and experiences of individuals from the Johnson County Newcomers Resource Network, an organization that provides services and support to New Iowans in Johnson County.
Panel members will discuss their experiences migrating to Iowa and adjusting to life in a new community. They will also share strategies that may be helpful to others and will talk about how others in the community can be better allies for their new neighbors.
