UI Army ROTC Commissions Second Lieutenants
The University of Iowa Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) recently commissioned two second lieutenants into the Iowa Army National Guard.
Lola Lopes, UI associate provost and guest speaker at the Dec. 17, 2005 ceremony, discussed the challenges faced by leaders, noted the value of providing mentorship to subordinates and pointed out the need to be flexible and adaptive in today's world.
The new second lieutenants, listed by Iowa hometown, are:
Casey Lee Cody Schroeder, son of Jerry and Anita Schroeder of Cedar Rapids and a 2001 graduate of Cedar Falls High School. Second Lieutenant Schroeder graduated with a bachelor's in microbiology. He will serve as a Chemical Corps officer with the 109th Medical Battalion, Iowa Army National Guard, in Iowa City.
Lan Duc Vo, son of Tri Vo and Hoa Nguyen of Mount Pleasant and a 2001 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. Second Lieutenant Vo graduated with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. He will serve as a Corps of Engineers officer with C Company, 224th Engineers, Iowa Army National Guard, in Mount Pleasant.
