UI Sports Medicine Center Offers Women's Fitness Seminar
The UI Sports Medicine Center in University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics will sponsor a free seminar about fitness techniques and injury prevention for women from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 1 in the Sahai Auditorium in the Medical Education and Research Facility (MERF) on the UI campus.
Women have special issues when it comes to fitness. Presenters will discuss what women can do to either begin or resume their exercise programs and become revitalized with a healthy lifestyle. Topics include:
-- Finding the right exercise for you and setting goals
-- The reasons many women stop physical activity
-- Preventing common injuries
-- Common injuries and treatments
-- When to seek a medical opinion
Speakers include Megan Moeller, UI Wellness coordinator, Kate Bewyer, a physical therapist in the Department of Rehabilitation Therapies, and Andrea Wilson, a certified physician assistant with UI Sports Medicine.
