Hancher Hosts Reception For Elementary Art Exhibition Feb. 26
Hancher Guild will host a free reception for the 2006 Children's Art Exhibition, featuring art works by children in all the Iowa City-area elementary schools, 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26 in the lobby of the University of Iowa Hancher Auditorium.
In addition to refreshments, the events will feature singers and drummers from Hills Elementary School, the Jazzy Jumpers from Grant Wood School, students from the Iowa Gymnest and pianist Cole Anderson.
The exhibition, selected and mounted by the elementary art teachers, will be available for viewing at all events in Hancher through March 7, as well as during the weekly business hours of the Hancher Showcase gift shop -- 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Wednesdays through March 8.
Hancher Guild is the auditorium's volunteer organization, which operates the Showcase gift shop, provides hospitality for visiting artists, staffs educational events and advises the auditorium on programming.
The reception is co-sponsored by the University of Iowa Community Credit Union.
