Kevin Burt To Be Guest On Iowa Public Radio's 'Java Blend' Show Jan. 5

Iowa soul and blues artist Kevin "B.F." Burt will perform live and talk about his career on the new "Java Blend" series on Iowa Public Radio. The free, public performance begins at noon Friday, Jan. 5, at Iowa City's Java House.

The program also will be broadcast at a later date on Iowa Public Radio stations across the state. Hosted by Ben Kieffer, the program offers an eclectic mix of live music from the vibrant independent music scene, featuring artists from around the state and around the country. Kieffer will infuse the performances with lively conversation about the artists' music and lives.

For the past 15 years, Burt has been electrifying audiences throughout the Midwest, as well as nationally on the blues circuit. His soul-inspired brand of blues is consistently compared to a range of premium artistry, from Bill Withers to B.B. King. Burt is also recognized as one of the Midwest's top blues heritage educators, providing his blues education program as a registered artist with the state of Iowa.

Future editions of "Java Blend" will be taped at noon on Fridays before a live audience at the Java House, located at 211 E. Washington St. in downtown Iowa City. The broadcast originates from WSUI-AM 910, the University of Iowa's public radio station. Occasionally, the show will go on the road to record at other venues around the state.

Each program will be broadcast statewide multiple times on a future weekend to an estimated 50,000 Iowa Public Radio listeners. Stations include KUNI Cedar Falls/Waterloo/Cedar Rapids/Iowa City, KUNY/KRNI Mason City, KDMR Des Moines, KDUB Dubuque, WSUI Iowa City/Cedar Rapids, WOI Ames/Des Moines, KTPR Fort Dodge, KOWI Lamoni, and KWOI Carroll.
