UI Seeks Proposals For Catalyst Award Seed Grants

The University of Iowa Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity (EOD) is seeking proposals for a new grant program dedicated to supporting distinctive and innovative diversity programs at the UI.

Supported campus-wide, the Catalyst Award Seed Grants target creative projects with immediate impact for enhancing the diversity goals of The Iowa Promise, the UI's five-year strategic plan. The plan lists as one of its top goals the promotion of excellence in education by increasing the diversity of the faculty, staff and students.

Grants of $500 to $1,000 are available to UI faculty, staff and students as seed money for start-up projects or programs that have potential sustainability, as well as short-term projects that demonstrate significance and impact. Applications are due by Jan. 22, 2007.

Preference will be given to collaborative grant proposals that support projects and programs that advance cross-cultural understanding, strengthen positive inter-group relations and promote a welcoming learning, living and working environment. Activities are encouraged that cross curricular, co-curricular and/or extra-curricular domains.
