Fans Asked To Help Make Hawks No. 1 In Safety, In And Around Kinnick

University of Iowa President Gary Fethke and Kirk Ferentz, head coach of the UI football team, are asking Hawkeye fans to cooperate in safety guidelines in and around Kinnick Stadium this season.

"We're excited about opening the season in the renovated Kinnick Stadium," Ferentz says. "It's a beautiful venue honoring a true hero and sportsman. The team and fans should be inspired to honor him in every way while they are here. Make coming to Kinnick Stadium an experience that both Hawkeyes and their opponents can remember with pride and pleasure."

"Hawk fans are among the most loyal and devoted fans anywhere," Fethke says. "The respect they show the University and its athletic teams is well-known. We're asking that fans demonstrate the same respect for the private property of the people living in the Kinnick neighborhood and beyond."

Ferentz and Fethke remind fans to observe the Big Ten Conference Fans' Creed: "Wear school colors with pride; cheer at the top of your lungs; sing our school song off-key; respect conference traditions; support our team, win or lose; and treat our visitors with respect."
