RE: Faculty and staff affected by the tornado
DATE: April 17, 2006
Let me begin by thanking so many of you who are already offering assistance as we recover from last week's tornados. The outpouring of support for those touched by the disaster has been truly inspiring.
I am writing to ask you to advise me of faculty and staff in your units who are confronting damage and losses due to the tornado. I would like to check with them to ensure that they have the assistance they need to begin the recovery process. Please send the names of any faculty or staff in your units who have been affected to Lisa Troyer (email@example.com). She can also be reached at 335-1878, if you or those in your units have questions.
Additionally, I urge units to remain flexible in work arrangements, just as we have asked faculty to be flexible in handling students' academic situations. The severe losses and damage that many have suffered will require much of their time and energy in the days to come.
Our thoughts are with all of those who are confronting challenges as a result of the tornado and I am deeply appreciative to all of you who are reaching out to those in need during this recovery period.
