University Of Iowa Students From Davenport And Le Claire Honored
Lindsay Griffin of Davenport and Jill Pedretti of Le Claire were honored at the University of Iowa Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology annual student awards ceremony April 14.
Griffin, a first-year student in the Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, received the Henry J. Prentiss Award for Superior Achievement in Medical Gross Anatomy. Prentiss led the UI anatomy department from 1904-1931 and believed it was important that medical students excel in both basic and clinical sciences.
Pedretti, a UI graduate student, received the W. R. Ingram Award for Superior Achievement in Medical Neuroscience. Ingram was head of anatomy at the UI from 1940-1966 and was considered a pioneer in anatomical and functional research of the hypothalamus and thalamus.
