Talk On The Early Universe Set For Sept. 8
Kenneth Gayley, professor in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Department of Physics and Astronomy, will deliver a free, public talk on cosmology from 5-6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at the Cottage Bakery and Café, 14 S. Linn St. Gayley's talk is titled, "The Early Universe: What does this mean and what do we know?"
The talk is the first local session to be presented by Café Scientifique, a new forum for debating science issues that meets outside of the traditional academic setting. Vincent Rodgers, professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy and group organizer, says that the group is an international public outreach effort by scientists who are committed to promoting public engagement with science and making science accountable.
