RSM McGladrey Institute Hosts Business Performance Expert Nov. 7
How can companies ensure that their performance measures and incentives are supporting their strategic goals? One of the leading experts in this area, University of Southern California Professor Kenneth Merchant, will provide insight into this issue Nov. 7 at the University of Iowa's Tippie College of Business as part of the RSM McGladrey Institute Speakers Series.
In his lecture titled "Obtaining Results With Effective Performance Measures," Merchant will review the leading theories in this area, and discuss which are most effective. The program will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7 in the Buchanan Auditorium (Room W10) of the John Pappajohn Business Building. It is sponsored by the University of Iowa RSM McGladrey Institute of Accounting Education and Research.
Merchant's research focuses on issues related to the design and effects of performance measurement, evaluation and incentive systems. He is the author of eight books on the topic, as well as numerous journal articles and teaching cases. Merchant teaches in the University of Southern California's Executive MBA and Global Executive MBA programs and is the ethics coordinator for USC's undergraduate accounting program.
Joining Merchant will be Milton Marcotte, an RSM McGladrey financial consultant, who will discuss practical implementation issues associated with performance measurement, particularly financial measures necessary to determine whether a program is effective.
