UI Hospitals And Clinics Staff Win National Performance Improvement Award
University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics recently received a prestigious national award for performance improvement.
"Hold That Needle! Reducing Lab Tests," presented by Mary Kay Brooks in the Office of Clinical Outcomes and Resource Management, won the Stellar Award for Performance Improvement at the National Eclipsys User Network Conference in Chicago. The entry from UI Hospitals and Clinics was selected out of a total of 70 presentations eligible for the recognition.
The presentation described a laboratory utilization project developed by Brooks and Sue Dane in the UI Department of Pathology. The project assisted clinicians in improvement efforts to assure appropriate laboratory testing.
