Talk On How Chemistry Is Prepared To Fight Disease Set For Nov. 10
Sonya Franklin, associate professor in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Department of Chemistry, will deliver a free, public talk on the use of chemistry to fight disease from 5-6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10 at the Cottage Bakery and Café, 14 S. Linn St. Franklin's talk is titled, "The Building Designer Proteins to Fight Disease."
The talk is the third to be presented by Café Scientifique, a new forum for debating science issues that meets outside of the traditional academic setting. Vincent Rodgers, professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy and group organizer, says that the group is an international public outreach effort by scientists who are committed to promoting public engagement with science and making science accountable.
