Law Students To Conduct Workshop On Living Wills
A free workshop on living wills and other medical directives that can be given in advance will be held Saturday, March 26, at 12:30 p.m. at the Iowa City/Johnson County Senior Center, 28 South Linn St.
The workshop is co-sponsored by the University of Iowa College of Law legal clinic, the Iowa Coalition on Human Rights (ICHR) and the Iowa City Senior Center. The presenters will be Robin Dull and Leighton Smith, UI law students, and Leonard Sandler, UI law professor and law clinic faculty advisor. In addition, Dr. William Dull, an Iowa City physician who specializes in cardio-pulmonary disease and internal medicine at Mercy Medical Center, will provide a doctor's perspective on advance directives.
The workshop will use clips from the television show "E.R." as well as the experiences of participants to explore the real-world dimensions of incapacity and end-of-life decision-making.
ICHR consists of law students and members of the greater UI community who promote domestic and international human rights via awareness and activism. The group works to achieve this through academics, activism and volunteering. Its Web site is at http://www.law.uiowa.edu/groups/ichr/.
