UI Dance Department Presents Faculty/Graduate Concert Feb. 10-12

The University of Iowa Dance Department will present a Faculty/Graduate Concert at 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 10-12 in the Space/Place Theatre of UI North Hall.

The concert will feature a combination of new student choreography and works created or staged by faculty members. 

The program will feature:

-- "At The Receding Edges" by visiting faculty member Jennifer Kayle in collaboration with her cast, to music by Ellen Fullman;

-- "Look What the Psyche Dragged In," choreographed by graduate student Tom Truss;

-- an untitled duet by faculty member Deanna Carter;

-- "Confession," choreography by faculty member Charlotte Adams in collaboration with Jayme Heaberlin and Maureen Miner, set to music by Johann Sebastian Bach and performed by Dance Department alumnae Sara Semonis and Michelle Kriner;

-- "More Than One Hemisphere," improvised by Kayle and Truss;

-- "Effection," with choreography by graduate student Matt Lindstrom to music by Purcell; and

-- "Bolling Dance for 24 in Three Sections with Rehearsal Clothes," a large-ensemble piece choreographed by dance chair Alan Sener, set to music by Claude Bolling, performed live by flutist Bruno Faria, pianist Lyle Juracek, drummer Dan Duffield and bassist Valdir Claudino.

Admission will be $12 (UI student $6; free admission for children under 12).

Tickets may be purchased in advance from the University Box Office in the Iowa Memorial Union. In addition to window sales at the Iowa Memorial Union, the University Box Office may be reached by phone at 319-335-3041 or toll-free 800-346-4401. The fax number is 319-335-3407. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m Monday through Saturday and 5-9 p.m. Sunday. In addition to cash and checks, the University Box Office accepts MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover cards.

Any remaining tickets will be on sale at the door.

North Hall is located at the north end of Madison Street on the UI campus. It is accessible from both Madison Street and the Anne Cleary Walk. Parking is available in the North Campus Parking Ramp.

The Dance Department is an academic unit of the Division of Performing Arts in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
