UI Entrepreneur Club Wins National Awards
The national College Entrepreneurs' Organization (CEO) recently honored the I-Envision entrepreneurs association at the University of Iowa's John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (JPEC), giving it a first place award for Teaching Entrepreneurship and a second place award for Best Chapter Advisors, Dawn Bowlus and Lynn Jahn.
The UI club also earned recognition for the awards at the Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Iowa Conference on Feb. 25 at North Iowa Area Community College. The awards were presented at the national CEO Conference in November.
I-Envision won the Teaching Entrepreneurship award for a five-week program with Roosevelt Elementary School in Iowa City, teaching students about economics, conservation and basic entrepreneurial concepts through games and small group sessions.
CEO honored Bowlus, JPEC student activities and outreach coordinator and Jahn, assistant director of JPEC, for their leadership of I-Envision, which was formed in 2000 to foster entrepreneurship in the University of Iowa student community. The group has grown to 72 club members from an original group of five.
"Lynn and Dawn have been tireless advocates for I-Envision through their promotion of the organization across the campus and throughout the state," said I-Envison president Westercamp in the CEO award nomination. Westercamp is a senior business major from Cedar Rapids.
