UI WISE Program Awards Travel Grants
The University of Iowa Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Program has announced the fall semester award recipients of its Dr. Eunice Schuytema Beam Travel Grant Program.
The award winners, each of whom receive $250 toward travel to a professional meeting to present scholarly work, are:
--Ping Jiao of China, a chemistry doctoral student in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, who delivered an oral presentation, "New polyketide-derived metabolites from the freshwater fungus Ascitendum austriacus," at the American Society of Pharmacognosy in Corvallis, Ore., July 23-27.
--Ying Sun of Beijing, China, a mechanical engineering doctoral student in the UI College of Engineering, who delivered an oral presentation, "Phase-field simulation of gas bubble growth and flow in a Hele-Shaw cell," at the American Physical Society's 58th Annual Meeting of the Division of Fluid Dynamics in Chicago, Ill., Nov. 20-22.
--Patricia Ann Wade of Iowa City, an educational psychology doctoral student in the College of Education, who will deliver two oral presentations -- "Children and Adolescents with Bipolar Disorder" and "Spelling Instruction that Works!" -- at the Annual Convention of the National Association of School Psychologists in Anaheim, Calif., March 28 through April 1, 2006.
