NPMA Continues 2005-06 Series With Seminar On Effective Meetings
The Nonprofit Management Academy has announced the third monthly seminar in its yearlong series for 2005-06. "Planning and Facilitating Effective Meetings" will be presented from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15 at the Coral Ridge Mall Community Room, 1451 Coral Ridge Ave., Coralville.
The seminar will focus on making meetings more successful. Participants will learn how to implement guidelines for effective group decision-making. They will have an opportunity to practice Robert's Rules of Order, and learn how to create templates for decision group action. The seminar will also focus on ways to encourage inclusive and effective participation.
The trainers for the session are Monique DiCarlo, director of the University of Iowa's Women's Resource and Action Center (WRAC), and Jay W. Brewer, executive director of the Iowa Respite and Crisis Care Coalition.
The fee for the seminar is $50, and CEU credits are available; participants may enroll in individual courses or a program leading to a Certificate in Nonprofit Management.
The Nonprofit Management Academy is a joint project sponsored by WRAC and the Iowa Nonprofit Resource Center at The University of Iowa, Iowa State University Extension, United Way of Johnson County, Iowa Shares, the Iowa Women's Foundation, the Community Leadership Program, the Johnson County Cultural Alliance, The 10,000 Hours Show, and the Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce.
