Registration Underway For UI Family Weekend

The University of Iowa Alumni Association and the S.T.A.T. (Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow) Ambassadors invites parents and family members to the UI campus Nov. 5-7 for Family Weekend 2004.

Registration is now underway for Family Weekend; registration deadline is Oct. 18. Featuring the Iowa/Purdue football game on Nov. 6, family members start the weekend on Friday, Nov. 5, with classroom visits and lunch at the remodeled Hillcrest Residence Hall Market Place. That evening in the Iowa Memorial Union Wheelroom, families can enjoy an evening of free improvisational theater, sponsored by the Campus Activities Board.

On Saturday, Nov. 6, a tailgate party will be held in the Field House North Gym (east of Kinnick Stadium) three hours prior to the Hawkeye football game at Kinnick Stadium (kickoff time to be announced). Sponsored by the Parents Association, the tailgate includes food, music, a visit from Herky and the UI cheerleaders.

Back by popular demand, a Casino Night and Auction will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Iowa Memorial Union's Second Floor Ballroom. Family Weekend attendees can participate in a variety of games and an auction of Hawkeye memorabilia.

The weekend will end with the traditional Black and Gold breakfast buffet at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Iowa City at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 7.

Family Weekend is coordinated by the UI Alumni Association and S.T.A.T. (Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow) Ambassadors, who are student representatives striving to be leaders and companions to fellow students, their families, alumni and the Iowa City community
