Pediatric Reunion, Postgraduate Course 2004 Scheduled
Graduates of the residency program in the University of Iowa Department of Pediatrics will attend a reunion and postgraduate course this weekend in Iowa City on the 75th anniversary of the accreditation of the program.
The alumni will gather at the Quality Inn in Iowa City on Friday, Sept. 24. The residency program in pediatrics began in 1915. Since then, 591 pediatric residents have received their training at Children's Hospital of Iowa at UI Hospitals and Clinics. Currently, 122 graduates of the program live in the state.
During this year's reunion, attendees will honor Frank Morriss, M.D., for his 17 years of service as head of the department. Former directors of the residency program will be on hand, and a historical DVD of the program will be shown.
In addition to the reunion, participants will attend the annual postgraduate course September 24-25, which provides community pediatricians, nurses, physician assistants and family medicine specialists the most recent information on a current topic. The focus this year is on sports medicine.
