UI Engineering Caterpillar Seminar Scheduled Sept. 9
Peter F. Green, B.F. Goodrich Endowed Professor in Materials Engineering, Department of Chemical Engineering and Texas Materials Institute, The University of Texas at Austin, will deliver a Caterpillar Colloquium Series Seminar from 3:30-4:20 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, in Room 3315 of the Seamans Center for the Engineering Arts and Sciences at the University of Iowa.
The seminar, titled "Thin Polymer Films at the Nanoscale" and hosted by the UI College of Engineering Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, is free and open to the public. A 3 p.m. reception will precede the talk.
Green has research interests in polymer blends, block copolymers, thin films, polymer interfaces, polymer melt dynamics and relaxation processes in inorganic glass.
He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, Fellow of the Australian Academy of Sciences, Fellow of the American Ceramic Society and received a National Science Foundation (NSF) Award for Special Creativity in 2002. He currently serves as divisional associate editor of the journal "Physical Review Letters" on the editorial boards of the "Journal of Polymer Science: Polymer Physics" and "Macromolecules."
The Caterpillar Colloquium Series is made possible by grants awarded to the UI College of Engineering through the UI Foundation by the Caterpillar Foundation of Peoria, Ill. The grants comprise the Caterpillar Excellence Fund, which aids student, faculty and curriculum development in the College of Engineering.
