UI Offers Iowa Business People New Online Continuing Education Program

Iowa small businesses, organizations, and professionals now have access to online business and information technology courses through the Internet thanks to a new statewide outreach program offered by the University of Iowa.

Under a contract with SkillSoft, a major e-learning provider headquartered in New Hampshire, the university is now offering Iowans yearlong subscriptions. Subscribers will have unlimited personal usage of 300 courses and hundreds of job aids, ranging from communication and leadership topics to software applications and Web design training. Project Management Institute or Microsoft IT certification-preparation subscriptions also are available separately. Courses are designed to offer broad-based professional development in an interactive, Windows-based format. While courses are non-credit bearing, continuing education units (CEUs) and skill-mastery assessments will be available.

Through a partnership with the University of Iowa Alumni Association, UI graduates can activate a free, 30-day trial of ContinueToLearn with Skillsoft just by visiting the site. The offer is good through March 30, 2005. Alumni status will be verified through the UI graduate database.
