Experts To Discuss Long-Term Care At Town Hall Meeting

Experts from the University of Iowa Center for Health Policy and Research and the UI Center on Aging will join with members of the Iowa Department of Elder Affairs (IDEA) and the Iowa chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) to discuss various aspects of long-term care on Thursday, Nov. 18 at the Hilton Gardens in Des Moines.

Speakers will address such issues as financing home-based long-term care, quality assurance in long-term care facilities, informal caregiving and issues in the eligibility process. Breakout sessions will follow the presentations. Approximately 200 attendees are expected, including citizens, industry representatives and members of the Iowa Legislature. Registration is required.

The meeting is co-sponsored by the UI, with a grant from the Wellmark Foundation, IDEA and AARP. The Center for Health Policy and Research is based in the UI College of Public Health, and the Center on Aging is co-sponsored by the College of Public Health and the UI Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine.
