Cleary Walkway To Be Closed For Construction

A portion of T. Anne Cleary pedestrian walkway from Market Street to the Chemistry Building will be closed for an indefinite period to accommodate construction of sewer connections to the new Pomerantz Center.

Directional signs will be installed at all key locations directing pedestrians on how to negoitate the closed portion of walkway. A guard currently posted at the Cleary/Market intersection will assist pedestrians in finding the appropriate detour. UI employees who park in the North Hall parking ramp will need to detour around the site during construction.

The exact dates of the closing are unknown and will depend upon the weather, but it will be closed no earlier than noon May 19. It will remain closed for up to two weeks.

The same construction project has reduced Market Street to a single lane of traffic through June 8.
