UI Honors Program To Hold Open House At New Location
The University of Iowa Honors Program will hold an open house on two consecutive days next week to celebrate its move to the new Blank Honors Center, from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, and from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 31.
The event will take place on the third floor of the center, which is located on the T. Anne Cleary Walkway, next to Daum Residence Hall. Honors Program Director Alice Fulton will speak briefly at 4:15 p.m. during Tuesday's open house, and refreshments will be provided both days. The event is open to all honors students, faculty and administrators involved with the honors program in some way.
The Honors Center, which opened earlier this year, houses the Connie Belin & Jacqueline N. Blank International Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development, as well as the UI Honors Program, making the UI the first school in the nation to offer under a single roof programs, services and support for academically gifted and talented students all the way from kindergarten through college.
The center is named after Des Moines couple Myron and the late Jacqueline Blank, who donated $5 million toward the $14 million project.
