UI To Confer Degrees In Summer Commencement Exercises
The University of Iowa will confer degrees on 1,000 graduates during commencement ceremonies Friday, July 30.
Doctoral and master's degrees will be conferred in a 2 p.m. ceremony at Hancher Auditorium. Bachelor's degrees will be awarded in a 7:30 p.m. ceremony, also at Hancher. Seating for the undergraduate ceremony is reserved. The 2 p.m. graduate commencement is open to the public; no tickets are required.
UI President David Skorton will present degrees to 625 undergraduate students. Provost Michael Hogan and John Keller, dean of the Graduate College, will present degrees to 375 graduate students.
Both graduate and undergraduate commencements will be broadcast live on UITV and the web. The commencements will be saved for future viewing on the web as video-on-demand. UITV will rebroadcast both commencement exercises during the week of Aug. 2. For specific broadcast times, check the UITV web site at http://www.uiowa.edu/~uitv. UITV is channel 17 for the Iowa City - Coralville cable franchise. UITV is channel 4 on the University cable system. Viewers in surrounding communities should check their cable lineup for the appropriate UITV channel number.
