KHAK-FM Radiothon To Benefit Children's Hospital Of Iowa

The KHAK-FM morning team of the Brain and the Bear will broadcast their eighth annual radiothon to support Children's Miracle Network July 27-30 in the main lobby of University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Proceeds of the 98-hour event will benefit patients of Children's Hospital of Iowa at UI Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City and its outreach clinics across the state. Donations from listeners will be given to the Children's Miracle Network to help support patients and their families at the Children's Hospital of Iowa within UI Hospitals and Clinics. More than 100,000 children receive care at Children's Hospital of Iowa each year.

"We know how much our KHAK listeners care about children," said The Bear. "We are looking forward to highlighting the great health care provided by the people at Children's Hospital of Iowa."

The event begins at 6 a.m. Tuesday, July 27 and will conclude at 10 a.m. Friday, July 30. The co-hosts will share the stories of former and current patients of Children's Hospital of Iowa and the dedicated physicians, nurses and other health care professionals who care for them.

Children's Miracle Network is an international non-profit organization dedicated to helping children by raising funds and awareness for 170 children's hospitals throughout North America. Children's Miracle Network partners with 135 radio stations and 200 television stations to help support critically ill and injured children. Since its inception in 1983, Children's Miracle Network has raised more than $2.2 billion for children's hospitals. Locally, Children's Miracle Network has raised more than $16 million from individuals, corporations, businesses and civic groups in this region, and each dollar raised stays at Children's Hospital of Iowa.
