IPTV Broadcast Previews Paul Taylor Performance In Hancher

An Iowa Public Television "Great Performances" broadcast at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28 and 2 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29 will preview the April 16-17 performances of the Paul Taylor Dance Company in the University of Iowa Hancher Auditorium.

The broadcast of the Paul Taylor Dance Company includes a performance of "Promethean Fire," Taylor's choreographic response to 9/11, which will be included in the Hancher programs along with a new work co-commissioned by Hancher to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Paul Taylor Dance Company.

To make the April performances a true community event, Hancher has sold "shares" in this commission, so that many dance lovers in Iowa will bring the curtain down on the Hancher season by witnessing their "own" piece of the growing legend of the artist that a Time magazine article described as "the world's greatest choreographer."
