Blanck to Speak at EEOC Forum on Work for Persons with Disabilities

Peter Blanck, the Charles M. and Marion Kierscht Professor of Law at the UI College of Law, will participate in a forum sponsored by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on job opportunities for persons with disabilities. The forum, held at EEOC Washington, D.C. headquarters on March 3, is part of a series entitled "Realities and Opportunities in the 21st Century Workplace."

Later in the day, Blanck will address EEOC legal staff on the ADA and the employment of persons with disabilities. The EEOC forum and subsequent discussions will explore, educate and inform employers, EEOC staff, the public, media and others about related workplace issues. The EEOC forum includes individuals from the business, legal and education sectors, as well as professional associations and national advocacy organizations. The dialogue is to facilitate an exchange of views, promote better understanding about the unique experiences and needs of each community, and examine ways to ensure full access for all members of society in our workplaces.

Blanck directs the Law, Health Policy & Disability Center at the University of Iowa College of Law. Based at the University of Iowa College of Law, with offices in Washington, D.C. and elsewhere, the disability law center concentrates on public policy and its impact on persons with disabilities, with an emphasis on self-determination, self-sufficiency and economic independence. For more information on the activities of Blanck and the center, see
