Blanck To Keynote National Council On Rehabilitation Education Annual Conference
University of Iowa Kierscht Professor of Law Peter Blanck will give the keynote address at the annual conference of the National Council on Rehabilitation Educators (NCRE) in Tucson, Ariz. Feb. 18.
"Peter is an international leader in law and public policy research focused on improving the quality of life for persons living with disabilities," said Vilia Tarvydas, NCRE president and professor of rehabilitation counseling at the University of Iowa. "Blanck's recent authoritative volume, Disability Civil Rights Law and Policy, addresses many of the critical issues facing rehabilitation counselors today."
Blanck directs the Law, Health Policy & Disability Center at the University of Iowa College of Law. His lecture, "Disability Law and Policy in Rehabilitation Education," will examine emerging issues in disability law and policy and how they relate to rehabilitation education.
NCRE promotes the improvement of rehabilitation services available to persons with disabilities through quality education and rehabilitation research. The organization represents more than 100 colleges and universities that have rehabilitation education programs, their faculties and students.
Based at the University of Iowa College of Law, with offices in Washington, D.C. and elsewhere, the disability law center concentrates on public policy and its impact on persons with disabilities, with an emphasis on self-determination, self-sufficiency and economic independence.
