UI Strategic Planning Open Forums Are Dec. 9, 10
The committee charged with writing the University of Iowa's 2005-2010 Strategic Plan invites the university community to two open forum meetings this month.
The first forum will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9 in the Iowa Memorial Union's Lucas Dodge Room (256).
The second will be from 4 to 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10 in Room 2189 of the Medical Education and Biomedical Research Facility (MERF).
The 27-member committee, co-chaired by Provost Michael Hogan and Vice President of Finance and Operations Doug True, is composed of university faculty, administrators, staff and students. The panel will re-examine the university's current strategic plan, adopted in 2000, as they formulate a new plan to guide the university through 2010. The new plan will be submitted for approval to the Board of Regents, State of Iowa in March 2005.
The Board of Regents recently completed its own strategic plan, and the university will be guided by its goals. Other themes around which the university's plan will be written include: diversity; the undergraduate experience; public engagement and outreach, including economic development and the health sciences; research and post-baccalaureate education; and organizational vitality, including faculty vitality.
