UI Math Department Holds Annual Minority Student Picnic Aug. 28

The University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Department of Mathematics will hold its fourth annual minority graduate and professional students picnic at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at Hubbard Park on the UI Campus.

The picnic, where participants will enjoy food, games and prizes, is co-sponsored by the department, Alliances for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP), the Black Graduate and Professional Students (BGAPS), the Black Student Union, the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) and other minority organizations. The public event is a student social event, as well as a celebration of the department's success in achieving a diverse and inclusive graduate student community, which, with an enrollment consisting of about 25 percent U.S. minority students, is one of the most diverse in the country.

Further information and reservations may be obtained by contacting Donna Hillis, UI Department of Mathematics, at 319-335-0781, or, or Carlton Goode of AGEP at 319-335-3238.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all UI-sponsored events. People requiring an accommodation in order to participate in this program are asked to contact the department of mathematics at 319-335-0781.
