Tippie MBA Program Continues To Expand

From Iowa City to Hong Kong, the University of Iowa's MBA Program continues to provide a nationally ranked management education to students around the world. This year, more than 900 students will be enrolled in one of the MBA programs at the UI.

The Tippie School of Management offers several different versions of its MBA program, each designed to fit specific needs of today's business professionals. Students have options that range from the Full-time Program, which is offered on campus, to the MBA Program for Professionals and Managers (MBA-PM), which is offered in the evenings in locations in Cedar Rapids, Des Moines/Newton and the Quad Cities.

In addition, the Executive Program provides a lock-step, concentrated experience that allows seasoned working professionals to complete an MBA program in two years. The International Executive MBA Program continues to expand with programs in Hong Kong and Beijing.

This fall, the Full-time MBA Program has attracted 62 students from 10 countries and 10 states within the U.S. The average Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) is 645 while the average Grade Point Average (GPA) is 3.36. A typical student has 3.9 years of work experience. As of this fall, 81 students will be entering the second year of the Full-time Program, and they are expected to graduate in spring 2005.

While the name of the Evening MBA Program has formally been changed to the MBA Program for Professionals and Managers (MBA-PM), the program continues to offer management education to students throughout the state of Iowa. The MBA-PM Program has more than 720 students enrolled in courses this fall; 155 of them are new to the program. These new students have an average of seven years of professional work experience. MBA-PM students typically work full-time and complete the program in about three years.

Students in the traditional Executive MBA Program are typically sponsored by their employers and attend all-day classes on alternating Fridays and Saturdays. This fall, 39 students will start the 21-month Executive MBA Program in Iowa City, while 38 students are enrolled in the second year of the on campus program.

The International Executive MBA Program continues in Hong Kong with 35 students completing their second year of the program. In addition, a new cohort of students will begin this fall. The program expands into China this October with a program offered in Beijing as a partnership between the UI, Purdue University's Center for Food and Agricultural Business, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science, and the Franklin Institute of Management.

The Tippie MBA Program consistently ranks among the top programs in the world. Whether referring to its U.S. News and World Report ranking of 47th among U.S. programs or its Forbes ranking as 5th in return on investment, the Tippie MBA provides solid management education at a great value.
