Science Takes Center Stage At UI State Fair Booth Aug. 19
Two presentations scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 19 in the University of Iowa's Iowa State Fair booth will focus on science.
From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the UI College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Department of Physics and Astronomy will present Hawk-Eyes on Science, a showcase of the UI's science outreach programs, including the wildly popular "Family Adventures in Science." And from 3 to 8 p.m., the UI Hygienic Laboratory will give a glimpse into A Bug's Life.
In the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics portion of the booth Thursday, The Smoking Teens will be on display all day. For information about the display, visit http://www.uihealthcare.com/depts/cancercenter/patients/smokingteens/
The daily drawings for great prizes continues Thursday. Up for grabs are Iowa vs. Purdue football tickets; Touchdown Iowa Highlight Videos (two drawings); 2003 Commemorative Season Tickets; a Hawkeye sweatshirt; a $50 Iowa Hawk Shop gift certificate; an Alumni T-shirt; a Squeeze Herky; an Alumni Association Football Calendar; and an Alumni Association Pen/Pencil Set and Calculator.
Throughout the fair, which runs Aug. 12-22, the UI will offer a wide variety of exciting exhibits, presentations, visits by special guests (including Herky and the UI cheerleading and dance teams), free posters and temporary tattoos and daily drawings for free Iowa tickets, merchandise and more. This year's booth theme, as last year, is "Iowa: Your University."
The Iowa booth is located in the southwest corner of the Varied Industries Building.
