UI To Spotlight Surgery, Synthetic Vision At State Fair Aug. 13
Learn why UI Hospitals and Clinics and the UI Carver College of Medicine are a cut above the others by visiting the UI's Iowa State Fair booth in Des Moines on Friday, Aug. 13.
The Fun in the Operating Room presentation will give booth visitors a close-up and personal view of some of the techniques and special instruments used in surgery. Later in the day, fairgoers can fly a virtual airplane as part of a presentation on Synthetic Vision: Helping Airplane Pilots See Better. And topping the list of prizes in the daily drawing will be tickets to the upcoming Iowa-Michigan State football game.
Also Friday, the University of Iowa Health Care portion of the booth will feature Compulsive Gambling Study Information and Recruitment from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, visit http://www.uihealthcare.com/depts/med/psychiatry/research/bupropion.html
Throughout the fair, which runs Aug. 12-22, the UI will offer a variety of exciting exhibits, presentations, visits by special guests (including Herky and the UI cheerleading and dance teams), free posters and temporary tattoos and daily drawings for free Iowa tickets, merchandise and more. This year's booth theme, as last year, is "Iowa: Your University."
The Iowa booth is located in the southwest corner of the Varied Industries Building.
