Corridor Business Journal Locates At UI's Technology Innovation Center

At its meeting Aug. 4, the Board of Regents, State of Iowa approved a lease for the Corridor Business Journal as the newest tenant of the University of Iowa's Technology Innovation Center (TIC).

The Corridor Business Journal, a new, weekly publication focusing on business in the Iowa City-Cedar Rapids Corridor, published its first edition July 26, covering people, places and trends of the regional business community.

"The Journal is an independent, locally-owned weekly offering a mix of hard-hitting journalism, insightful features and information that will help readers to make sound decisions about their business in the Corridor," said publisher John Lohman of North Liberty, Iowa. He owns the Journal with his wife, Aspen.

The Lohmans are joined by a staff of journalists and media professionals who have worked with media organizations such as The Cedar Rapids Gazette, The Iowa City Press-Citizen, KCRG-TV, The Daily Iowan, The Iowan and Iowa Commerce. This team will deliver this weekly print product as well as produce a website,, which will provide up-to-the-minute business coverage from national wire services as well as local business news.

The Corridor Business Journal becomes the 86th new business venture using advanced technology to be admitted to the TIC since the UI incubator was established in 1984.

With the addition of the Journal, the TIC will have 17 tenant companies. Twenty-nine TIC "graduate" firms have expanded their business or met other business goals after leaving the incubator and a half-dozen other companies remained in business after leaving TIC.
