UI/ISU To Hold Joint Bioinformatics Workshop Aug. 6
The University of Iowa and Iowa State University will hold a Joint Bioinformatics Workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at the ISU Molecular Biology Building in Ames, Iowa. The workshop is expected to be attended by a variety of researchers and students in genetics and related fields.
University of Iowa speakers will include:
-- Dr. Todd Scheetz, "Psuedogenes and Gene Conversion."
-- Dr. John Logsdon, "Phylogenomic analyses of the origins and evolution of meiosis."
-- Dr. Tom Bair, "Selection of 5' ESTs for full-insert sequencing."
ISU speakers are:
-- Dr. Volker Brendel, "Computational identification of microRNAs and their targets."
-- Dr. Jackie Shanks, "Metabolic Flux Maps of Central Carbon Metabolism in Plants."
-- Dr. Susan Carpenter, "Virus dynamics and evolution during persistent lentivirus infection."
Workshop sponsors are the ISU Laurence H. Baker Center for Bioinformatics and Biological Statistics, the UI Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine and the UI College of Engineering.
