UI Arts Share Holds Summer Workshops For Children
The University of Iowa Arts Share program is offering Summer Arts Camps for children entering the first through fourth grades. The first session will run June 7-11; a second session will be the following week, June 14-18. The half-day workshops will be held in UI Halsey Hall on the UI campus.
The cost, which includes snacks, is $90 per session.
The workshops -- focusing on creative movement, theatre, music, graphic arts, poetry and fiction -- will be lead by UI graduate students or post-graduates who have extensive teaching experience through Arts Share.
The sessions will be informal and energetic, held in an intellectually safe, stimulating environment that fosters creative expression and interaction. All classes are limited to 16 students.
According to Leslie Finer, director of Arts Share, the first session is filling up quickly, but there are several spots open for the second session.
A portion of the proceeds from this Summer Arts Camp will be used to provide financial assistance to Iowa schools using UI Arts Share services.
