UI Hospitals And Clinics Offers Head And Neck Cancer Screening

Cancer specialists at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics will host a free head and neck cancer screening session from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, April 23.

The screening event is a part of the Yul Brynner Foundation Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Week, April 19-25. Faculty and staff from the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery and the Department of Radiation Oncology, with support from the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the UI, will conduct the screenings.

Team members will include:

-- Kristi Chang, M.D.;
-- Ken Dornfeld, M.D.;
-- Russell Smith, M.D.;
-- Jeff Markt, D.D.S., who will display and demonstrate prosthetic devices;
-- Ann Sporkman-Link, a speech pathologist who will be available to answer questions about speech and swallowing rehabilitation.

Interested individuals may call for an appointment by calling 319-356-4351. The screening will be held at UI Hospitals and Clinics. The medical center is located at 200 Hawkins Drive in Iowa City.

The Yul Brynner Head and Neck Cancer Foundation is a national organization devoted to supporting head and neck cancer patients, educating the public on prevention and treatment, as well as providing support for ongoing research efforts.
