Annual Powwow Brings Native American Dance And Song To UI
The University of Iowa American Indian Student Association will celebrate the American Indian culture through song and dance at the 15th Annual University of Iowa Powwow April 9-11 at Carver Hawkeye Arena.
World-renowned dancers and drum groups will perform and compete for more than $30,000 in cash awards. American Indian culture will also be shared through music, food, arts and crafts. More than 60 food vendors will be on hand.
Doors open at 5 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Grand entry, a vibrant processional involving all competitors, begins at 7 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Admission is $6 for adults and $5 for children and senior citizens. Group rates and family passes are available. Admission is free to UI students.
